Advertising is governed by rules that require truthfulness and fairness. In addition to the laws, there are also quite detailed guidelines and circulars that, over time, have further specified and clarified, in a practical sense, what is laid down in the regulations.
With the exception of a few specific cases for which advertising is free or – on the contrary – completely prohibited, advertising of medical devices and IVDs is normally subject to authorisation by a commission of experts.
